Choosing between the ASN, IP to ASN and IP to Company database
You might be wondering what is the difference between the following databases:
Summary
- IP to ASN database is a subset of the ASN database
- The IP to Company database contains ASN information for each individual organization’s IP assignment.
- The company database does not provide the full picture of the ASN assignment. We recommend users use the ASN database for ASN information.
- For some rare cases, the IP to Company database may not provide a specific ASN for an IP address. The core purpose of the IP to Company database is to match IP addresses to organizations.
IP to ASN Database (Free)

The IP to the ASN database is part of our open-access databases. It is a direct subset of our paid ASN database. The IP to ASN database contains the following fields:
- ASN (Autonomous System Number)
- AS organization name
- AS domain / official website
We also have the IP to Country ASN database that combines the above with country-level information.
Compared to the paid ASN database, it does not include the AS organization type and AS country field.
ASN Database

The ASN database contains ASN organization-level information. Such as:
- ASN (Autonomous System Number)
- AS organization name
- AS domain / official website
- AS organization type
- AS organization country
It is the parent database of the free IP to ASN database. It contains the additional ASN related fields such as AS_TYPE and AS_COUNTRY.
The ASN database does not contain the organization-level IP address information. That is covered in the IP to Company database.
IP to Company Database

The IP to Company Database provides organization-level IP address information and their respective ASN-level data.
The fields this database contains are:
- Organization name
- Organization domain / official website
- Organization type
- ASN of the IP address allocator
- AS name of the IP address allocator
- AS organization type
- AS organization country
