Hi ipinfo devs. Sorry ahead of time if this is wrong place to write, feel free to redirect me to a proper place. I have known about ipinfo in HN post, seems like you are building a cool and free project. And it seems you rely on distributed infrastructure, which is also is my anre of interests.
I am author of Sparky - distributed jobs framework. I wonder if you are to use any open source solution to manage your Linux boxes of internal distributed network which seems you have ? Maybe sparky could be a potential fit for you. Ping me if you have any interest or questions. I can provide any documentation, architect links, just want to take it to easy ))
Thank you very much for posting in our community. We are glad to have you here!
I just checked out Sparky, which looks like a fantastic project.
At this moment, we are transitioning to standardizing our Probe Network stack. I think our infrastructure team is heavily focused on using standardized tools and a lot of bash scripts. Sparky seems promising, but it is a young project. Much of our daily effort is entirely dedicated to maintaining the probe network. To be honest, we are so focused on standardizing our entire network we have very little room to experiment and do fun projects like seeing how projects like Sparky can help us.
I will share the project with our team and will let them know if they are interested in adopting it.
Again, I really appreciate you posting in our community and hope to see Sparky grow to the point it becomes a standard toolkit.
Hi, @Abdullah and thanks for swift reply. And thanks for at least letting others to get familiar with Sparky. There is also recent post on Sparky cluster flow which is probably closer to your specific - Sparky distributed jobs flow – Sparrowdo
I totally understand your point on relying more well known and established tooling, that’s ok )
As for Bash scripts you guys already heavily use - may be Sparrow - which is a part of Sparky could be something you leverage ? I am saying that because Sparrow is automation platform with good support of Bash. You may check it out as well
I have shared the GitHub - melezhik/Sparrow6: Raku Automation Framework project with our team. They will experiment with the tools. These tools are incredibly useful and generally created by you and the community. I know they will love them.
Thanks a lot. Feel free to ask here or in related discord channel anything you guys might need for your requirements, I am looking forward to do something together with ipinfo team
